Santikos Entertainment is making moves.

The San Antonio-based cinema chain announced Wednesday its plans to open a new facility in New Braunfels, taking over a theater formerly occupied by Alamo Drafthouse. Santikos expects to open its now tenth location late this summer, according to the news release.

"This new venue serves one of the fastest-growing communities in the country and grants us the opportunity to give the people of Comal County and New Braunfels a truly amazing cinema experience as they have never had before," Santikos CEO, Tim Handren, said.

Last year, Santikos was the first theater company to restart its operations in the San Antonio area during the coronavirus pandemic. The company originally only opened the Palladium, Casa Blanca and Cibolo on May 2 after Gov. Greg Abbott announced his "Open Texas" plan.

Since then, Santikos has opened eight of its nine locations in the San Antonio area. Santikos Silverado, on 11505 W. Loop 1604 N., will reopen May 28. The release noted the eleventh location announcement is coming soon. All will operate at more than 50 percent capacity with one seat in between each party.

With more locations opening, Santikos is looking to hire in several positions, with some jobs coming with a $1,000 signing bonus. For individuals interested in joining the team, visit santikos.com/hiring for more information.
