The event, “Surviving Life: Help and Hope for Teens,” will focus on the daily struggle some youth in our midst face on a daily basis. We live in a community rich with resources and experiences from mental health professionals and nonprofits who are invested in helping youth reach their full potential. They have joined together to plan this event that will be held on October 20, 2018 at the McKenna Events Center. The event will feature student groups from local high schools with original expressions that highlight the state of mental health at their campus as they see it. The second half of the day will include expert panel presentations on lifestyle and physiological impacts on teen mental health. We hope that teens and their parents will leave with tools that help them cope with life’s everyday struggles. We have also extended offers to families in the community who have experienced death by suicide of a family member. These families will have an opportunity to have a memorial booth at the event to bring faces to the statistics we hear about. We hope everyone who attends the event will be impacted by the depth of loss these families have endured.
