Five adventures to get your heart racing

Picture yourself flying through the sky above the tree canopy. Or being blasted to the top of an uphill water coaster. Or barreling down the track of an alpine roller coaster at speeds up to 25 miles per hour.

These adventures and more are all in a day’s fun in the central Texas town of New Braunfels, making it the perfect place to unleash your inner daredevil. Here are five exhilarating attractions to get your adrenaline flowing.

The Cliff Carver Alpine Coaster

Head to Camp Fimfo for a thrilling ride on the first and only Alpine Coaster in Texas. The Cliff Carver hillside coaster uses physics and gravity for a smooth yet thrilling ride that can reach speeds up to 25 miles per hour. The sled travels downhill over a mile of track, providing scenic views along with a surge of adrenaline. Each gravity-propelled sled includes manual brakes, giving you control over the thrill level.

Twisted Trails Zip Rail and Ropes Course

Take excitement to new heights at Natural Bridge Cavern’s zip rail and ropes course. The 60-foot high, four-level ropes course will test your balance and agility. From the ropes course, you can access one of the seven zip rails, covering 685 total feet of suspended track. The zip rail is similar to a zip line, but you can navigate your way through the rails, choosing the challenges and routes you want to take as you soar above the treetops and take in the sweeping Hill Country views.

Loki’s Axe Haus

Thrill seekers head to Texas Ski Ranch for a variety of adrenaline rushes, including cable wakeboarding, waterskiing, paintball and more. Now the ranch offers a new adventure: axe throwing at Loki’s Axe Haus. Test your skills as you attempt to land your axe on the target in your indoor throwing lane. A trained axe coach will give you pointers at the beginning of your

session and provide tips, tricks and ideas for games. It’s a one-of-a-kind “axe-perience” that you won’t forget!

The Tube Chute

Floating the spring-fed Comal River is mostly a pretty laid-back trip – at least until you reach the iconic tube chute. The tube chute, located just downriver from Prince Solms Park, is where the waters of the Comal River are funneled into a giant concrete water slide. Tubers get an exhilarating ride down the chute and around a dam before splashing into the fast-moving water of the river below. It’s a classic Texas summer experience. Ask your river outfitter for pointers on successfully navigating the chute and enjoy an unforgettable thrill on your next float.

Master Blaster and other high-intensity water rides

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, consistently ranked as the World’s Best Waterpark, offers a variety of water rides, pools, waterslides and attractions from the mild to the wild. For those who want to see just how intense the rides can get, try the six-story tall Master Blaster Uphill Water Coaster. This ride provides the rollicking thrills and non-stop action of a roller coaster with powerful water jets propelling your two-person inflatable boat upward. From the launch platform, riders are plunged down a three-story drop, then blasted upward three stories into a twisting tunnel before continuing to zoom uphill and down in a pretzel-shaped spiral. The Master Blaster has been voted the best water ride in the United States multiple times. It’s perhaps the most legendary of Schlitterbahn’s signature thrill rides, but feel free to experience all the park’s wildest rides and judge for yourself.
