Ohana Poké & Sushi Burrito brings a taste of the islands with a twist to our small but mighty Texas town. With a build your own bowl option, a grain free burrito (we’ll tell you in a bit), and delicious bubble tea, all served in a trendy environment, we recommend stopping by for a quick lunchtime visit or late-night study session (they are open until 9:30/10pm).
Atmosphere
The vibe was fun and a bit retro. The 90’s and early 2000’s pop and hip-hop, the wall of flowers, and the board games made for the perfect game night spot or a fun place to bring a date after going to the Alamo Drafthouse. The idea is great, fresh food served in a frill-free way to meet your diet where it is. It is perfect for Keto lovers, vegetarians, pescatarians, or those non-discriminatory eaters like me… omnivores!
Bubble tea for everyone!
Sea turtle, Zebrafish, Taro, Mango (Top to bottom, left to right)
BUBBLES!
Their bubble tea was awesome! We ordered the Zebrafish - an oolong and green milk tea with an Oreo topping, the Sea Turtle - green Thai tea with bubbles, their mango slushy, and a taro root milk tea (so purply). Of these, the most popular drinks for our group were definitely the Sea turtle, a mixture of green tea with heavy cream for the adults, and the kids loved the mango slushy. Our tip? Go after 7 for a BOGO deal or between 2pm to 4pm for (an almost) 50% discount.
Tofu Poké burrito
Poké Bowl or Burrito
For food, we ordered one of the signature poké bowls, a burrito, and a build your own bowl. The signature bowl was their Unagi Poké, a mixture of grilled eel with fresh lettuce and vegetables. The eel was just like you expect it, chewy with a sweet Asian barbeque sauce and it was great with the fresh chopped veggies. Now the burrito is where things got interesting. The burrito is a giant sushi roll. That is to say, it is a burrito but instead of a flour or a corn tortilla, it is wrapped in a low-carb delicious sheet of nori (seaweed). We chose the vegetarian Tofu option and it did not disappoint. The best part is building your own. The menu is inexpensive and invites you to keep coming back until you have crafted your perfect burrito/poké bowl.
We will definitely be back to try out more bubble tea and build ourselves another lovely burrito.
